Audioskape

The Learning Centre is at the final stages of developing new audio editing software that is both simple and intuitive. Audioskape is designed for the new world of podcasting where the pictures on the radio are better than those on TV.

Our Dulce et Decorum Est project was very successful but time and technology moves on and the software we originally used is now no longer available. The version we used will not operate on the latest computers such as the ones we have here in The Learning Centre.

We believed that the aims of this project were worthwhile and deserved further development. We searched through the myriad of audio recording software packages on the market but to our surprise nothing suited our vision. We decided to put our money where our mouth was and we commissioned new software tailored to our needs.

So what is so different? The purpose of the software is for producing radio journalism or drama. To support the study of poetry or foreign languages and not the study of audio recording technology. The Learning Centre has long experience in using and presenting software to a wide variety of users and we have built up experience of what works and what simply detracts from the learning experience.

This software is geared towards the normal computer user which we believe is very important. For example we have not included the advanced audio functions which you will find in most audio software packages. We have created a simple user interface and kept the number of controls to a minimum.

More details wil appear here soon as Audioskape becomes ready for use. For further information please contact info@thelearningcentre.org

Dulce et Decorum Est

Poetry is an oral tradition with strong roots in Scottish culture. In this project pupils were able to paint a picture of a poem, a picture of sounds created on their computer, through the power of radio drama.
