LensHeads offers young people the chance to gain the skills needed to join Scotland's next wave of filmmakers. Working from the ground up, this course teaches the basics of digital film making through a fun and challenging combination of hands-on training, in-class discussion, group workshop activities and projects with, an emphasis on teamwork and learning by doing.
Many different people contribute to the making of a film and students will have the opportunity to experience the range of disciplines and skills needed to be part of something great.
Beginning with the basics we'll work our way from simple exercises and small projects, eventually producing a digital short film. Young people attending a screenwriting course have created the scripts that will be produced into film. We'll cover the process of film making in depth: Analysing the script, choosing the locations, casting the actors, rehearsing the action, to filming, lighting, editing, and even screening. You'll be assured of coming out ready to put your ideas into action.
The course is open to all young people aged 15 to 18 living in North Lanarkshire. It is free to successful applicants and some help in travelling to the course, if necessary, can be given.
If you have an interest in making films but haven't had a chance to give it a go yet, this is the course for you. No experience is necessary. The only qualities you need are commitment, determination, imagination and a desire to work with others in a fun and creative environment.
