Specialist Training

The Learning Centre provides a wide range of training services, which will continue to expand and develop over the next year. Training provision covers areas such as: Film Craft; Video editing; Mindmapping software; Including multimedia in Powerpoint presentations; Creating & Editing Graphics & Digital photos; Photoshop - skills & tutorials; and using equipment such as Digital Cameras and scanners.

Training can be developed to meet the particular needs of the client whether directed towards education or for general use of multimedia software and peripherals. Particular emphasis is placed upon the practical application of multimedia with the growing use of online tutorials and e-assessment.

Projects

Integrating video in the classroom

The Learning Centre has developed a concise way of teaching the basics of video editing so that a project using video technology can be pratical with a class of up to thirty pupils.


Art in ICT

Progress in the digital arts and multimedia continues to take place at an unprecedented rate with ICT firmly entrenched throughout the creative industries.


Digital Art & Design tutorials

The Learning Centre is developing new online materials to help develop the role of Photoshop Elements in the classroom with practical exercises, assets ready to download and online training videos.

SMART Board Installation Tutorial

The Learning Centre is developing instructional materials for North Lanarkshire to help Education staff with operating & installation of Interactive SMART Boards using animated interactive training modules.

Learnskape eLearning Software

This initiative has produced e-learning software that has a practical application in the context of lifelong learning. It is available for use via the Internet or an intranet.

Multimedia courses for pupils

The third and fourth Lensheads film schools are just completed with plans to continue providing this service in the future. Work is currently underway to adapt this course for provision during schools hours in Cardinal Newman High School in 2006/07.

The Learning Centre is a multimedia-learning environment that utilises the latest software and hardware. The Learning Centre works across platforms using both Apple Mac and Windows PC operating systems.
