The Learning Centre wascommissioned by the Scottish Executive Education Department to produce an Internet-based resource focused on learners, teachers and parents in Scotland.

The format of the of the finished resource is a database of websites, accessible through a search facility that is specifically referenced to the Scottish curriculum providing information regarding which course, and which level the material is most appropriate.

The Learning Centre recruited a team of 20 teachers from all over Scotland and over the summer vacation, these 'researchers' surfed the web looking for the best sites in their subject area, and writing reviews on the sites using the cataloguing conventions adopted by Learning & Teaching Scotland and BECTa.

Over 1600 records were produced detailing the professional reviews of the teachers as well as technical details, key search words etc. Every single review also involved tagging the websites in the context of the Scottish Curriculum to a level of detail that will undoubtedly be of benefit to all teachers using this information in the future.

The Learning Centre handed the database over to Learning & Teaching Scotland who are hosting the database at www.webreviews4teachers.org.uk
