The Aim of the Learning Centre

“The Learning Centre exists to deliver high quality multimedia expertise and support to the Learning and Leisure Services of North Lanarkshire Council.”

What you have told us

* Primary school staff have requested more project work and transferring of skills to primary colleagues.

* Feedback from the Lenshead filmschools helps us with further development of future classes.

Improvements we have made

* We have developed curricular materials to support the use of digital multimedia in the teaching of Art and Design.
* We have increased the number of completed projects from 27 in 2006/2007 to 55 in 2007/2008

How well we are doing

* In October 2008 our Lensheads Filmschools were nominated for a NLC Corporate Award in the category of Life Long Learning.
* In May 2008 the Learning Centre was awarded “Service Improvement of the Year” in the Learning and Leisure Service’s Excellence Awards. This award was in recognition of the progress the Centre had made in improving service delivery to our customers.

Our commitments to you

* To work with Learning and Leisure colleagues to develop innovative multimedia educational resources.
* To provide young people with a authentic experience of being part of a film making crew via the Lensheads film school.

Performance of the Learning Centre.

The work of the Centre is largely project based were we provide bespoke multimedia solutions to meet the need of our clients.

In 2007/2008 the types of projects undertaken were as follows:-
